Maxi One Design -
Carbon - Kevlar - Titanium
With huge budgets in excess of tens of millions of dollars these "offshore
racers" are designed for one purpose: Boatspeed!
Not like America's Cup yachts which are much smaller (70' ft length),
built for inshore racing and constantly followed by a fleet of support
vessels; our Maxis are built for the longest and toughest "Round
the World Race".
Designed for the "Whitbread Trophy" - now known as the "Volvo
Ocean Race" - our Maxis are built to withstand grueling conditions
thousands of miles away from civilization where they reached boatspeeds
of 30 knots and more.
80' Maxi Racer - "Celebrity"
"Celebrity" was built by Baltic Yacht in Finland for the
1989/90 Whitbread Trophy. "Celebrity" prooved that she
is still capable of going fast by winning the Sidney-Hobart Race
2001 and is probably one of the most competitive offshore maxi of
these days. In december 2002 she set the new speed record "Round
Ireland".
